Paula Abdul really screwed up big time and the Idol Gods are going to have to put some severe damage control in place. We knew it would happen sooner or later with Paula always in her spacey, happy place, but I honestly didn’t think she was this bad! Details below. Neil Diamond mentored the Idol contestants this week and whether you like him or not, he has sold 120 million records and his 26th studio album will be released on May 6th of this year. The guys got talent.

Idol Contestants Sing Diamond One

Jason Castro is up first and starts off with Forever in Blue Jeans. Same old boring Jason; ya gotta love his consistency! David Cook is next with I’m Alive and I was waiting for a “wow” but it never happened. He was good, not great. Brooke White sang I’m A Believer and I still believe she is NOT our next American Idol. David Archuleta sang Sweet Caroline and he wasn’t too bad. At least I wasn’t irritated by his singing. Syesha Mercado sang Hello Again and I just love this girl. She was very pretty with her hair straight, too.

Paula Abdul Screws Up!

After the Idol contestants sang their FIRST song (remember that), Ryan Seacrest brought them all back out on stage for judging of the FIRST song. Randy thought Jason was just okay; David Cook was strong; Brooke sounded karaoke; David A. was the bomb; and Syesha was also strong. Paula, in her infinite wisdom, rated Jason’s 2 songs, because she can see into the future. Or, she “sees” things I’m not sure which. Ryan is looking offstage for some desperate Idol Gods damage control, Randy is trying to snap Paula back to reality telling her to only judge one song, and finally Simon says which ONE do you like? Paula was very confused thinking she heard Jason sing two songs and Simon put her out of her babbling misery and had a short critique for everyone. Jason is standing on stage grinning and probably doesn’t have a clue what just happened because he likes Paula’s spacey, happy place, too. Simon thought Jason-forgettable; David-above average; Brooke-nightmare; David A.-amateurish; and Syesha-old fashioned.

Idol Contestants Sing Diamond X2

Jason Castro is back singing September Morn’ and although he wasn’t bad, he was boring.
  • Randy thought it was just okay, not the best.
  • Paula said it was a safe choice.
  • Simon didn’t recognize him and there was no attempt to make the songs his own.
David Cook sang All I Really Need Is You and he was awesome as I expected.
  • Randy said he rocked the house and was blazing.
  • Paula said she was proud of him.
  • Simon said it was brilliant and he made it his own, something Jason didn’t do.
Brooke White sang I Am I Said her second time on stage and I still don’t see the greatness.
  • Randy said it was a nice job.
  • Paula said she connected? Not sure.
  • Simon said it was a million times better than the first song.
David Archuleta sang America and I swore I heard him squeak. Is his voice changing?
  • Randy said he was in the zone.
  • Paula said perfect song
  • Simon said it was a very clever song choice.
Syesha Mercado sang Thank the Lord for the Nighttime and I loved it!! Very strong and a lot of personality!
  • Randy said she was also in the zone.
  • Paula called her Brooke and said something about her theatrical place?
  • Simon said this is the strangest show we’ve ever had. Right? He said Syesha was a good actress/singer, but she might be in trouble tonight.
So, what are your thoughts? How do you think the Idol Gods can do damage control to fix Paula’s screw up?
Will Simon Cowell’s scare tactic for Syesha help her or hurt her? Vote Now!
